Steering you in the right direction
Learning to drive for the first time can seem quite complicated, with all the forms you need to fill out and other stuff you have to remember. Don't worry - we've created this page to give you everything you need to know about getting hold of your provisional licence. We've also included useful links to further sites that may be of interest to you when getting started.
At first you need to pass DKT (Driver Knowledge Test) to get your learners licence. Now you are ready to start your driving lessons.
After you have enough knowledge and skills to go for a driving test, you can then book a HPT (Hazard Perception Test) test and on successfully passing the HPT you are all set to take the practical driving test. Once you pass the driving test you will be issued provisional licence (P1)
You've passed your driving test - now you can drive on your own at last. But it doesn't stop there, this is just the end of the beginning. Getting your own car will give you the independence you need. For a new driver, the cost of insurance can be sky high.
And the reason for this?
Statistics show that new drivers are more likely to have an accident in the first two years of passing their test than at any other time in their driving career. Age doesn't matter - it's basically down to a lack of driving experience.
